The International Journal of Occupational Safety and Ergonomics (JOSE), a journal edited and published by the Central Institute for Labour Protection –  National Research Institute (CIOP–PIB), is primarily devoted to original articles of significance in occupational safety and ergonomics. The interdisciplinary character of JOSE allows for articles from diverse fields to be considered for publication. Their relevance to occupational safety and ergonomics and the scientific merit are primary criteria for publishing. JOSE is a peer-reviewed journal; however, the final decision regarding acceptance, revision or rejection of manuscripts rests with the Editors.

Copyright Permission: Authors submitting a manuscript do so on the understanding that, if it is accepted for publication, copyright of the article, including the right to reproduce the article in all forms and media, shall be assigned exclusively to CIOP-PIB. CIOP-PIB will not refuse any reasonable request by authors for permission to reproduce their contributions to JOSE.

Manuscript Submission: Manuscripts are accepted for refereeing with the understanding that the same work has not been and will not be published nor is presently submitted elsewhere, and that all persons listed as authors have given their approval for the submission of the paper. Responsibility for the accuracy of the material, including appropriate reference to related studies lies entirely with the authors. All manuscripts submitted for publication will be run through anti-plagiarism software. Please e-mail them to jose@ciop.pl.

Manuscript should be written in good academic English. Page 1 should contain the title of the article, its author(s), affiliation(s), a short form of the title (no more than 40 characters including letters and spaces), keywords, the name, e-mail and postal address of the author to whom correspondence should be sent, and an abstract of no more than 150 words (a structured abstract can have 200 words). Please insert continuous line numbers (from the Page Layout menu in Microsoft Word).

Tables must be on separate pages and not embedded in the text. Every table should have a title and each table column should have a heading. They should be completely understandable without reading the text. Tables should be made with the Tables function in Microsoft Word, not with spaces or tabs or the ENTER key.

Figures should follow References; in addition, each figure should be saved—without a legend—in a separate file (with the filename indicating the number of the figure). All figure legends should be typed on a separate page following the main text. Figures should be completely understandable without reading the text.

We accept the following files for graphs and figures with text: Adobe Illustrator (*.ai), Corel Draw (*.cdr), Excel (*.xls, *.xlsx), Encapsulated PostScript (*.eps), Scalable Vector Graphics (*.svg) and *.emf. Figures should be drawn in that software, not pasted into it (or into Microsoft Word). Photographs and pictures should have a resolution of at least 300 dpi.

References should be numbered consecutively in the order in which they are first mentioned in the text. Contributors should refer to the Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals (see here), for examples see here, or consult any issue of JOSE published after 2008, e.g., see here.  Manuscripts that do not conform to these guidelines may be returned to the author prior to editorial evaluation.
